Master of Science in
Software Engineering
Software engineering represents the fastest growing segment of software
professionals -- men and women who solve problems and issues in the
development of mission-critical software to meet the needs of business
and industry. At Southern Polytechnic, our Software Engineering students
are ahead of the game, learning real-time strategies and procedures that
will give them a competitive edge in the market.
Our Master of Science in Software Engineering Program is designed
for working professionals who want to earn a professional degree part-time
in the evening and on weekends. Accepted students have at least one year
of full-time experience in software development and/or maintenance. Typically,
students are working professionals in metro Atlanta with at least a bachelor's
degree; however, students who lack a formal degree or previous coursework in
Software Engineering or Computer Science may transition into the program.
Thirty-six hours of coursework are required for successful completion of the
program. Students who do not have a degree in Computer Science or Software
Engineering are accepted conditionally into the program, and must complete a
series of prerequisite courses in addition to the 36-hour requirement.
A graduate certificate is also available to students with a bachelor's degree
in Computer Science or a closely related field who wish to advance into leadership
positions. Applicants must have at least one year of work experience in the computer
software field. Participants enroll in two classes per semester for three semesters.
