SWE MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Department of Software Engineering is to provide a highly qualified education for Software Engineering. We believe our dedicated faculty and staff, outstanding student body, and excellent facilities allow us to achieve our mission and prepare our students for further education, successful careers, and lifetime professional growth.

SWE PROGRAM OUTCOMES

At the time of graduation, all Software Engineering students will have demonstrated the ability to:

  1.  Apply mathematics, science and computer science to the engineering of software systems.

  2. Apply SWE practices and process to software design and development.

  3. Demonstrate the ability to gather, analyze, develop, verify and validate artifacts of software engineering systems. 

  4. Use software tools effectively in all phases of software development.

  5. Contribute to multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary teams in the design, implementation and evolution of software systems.

  6. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.

  7. Independently learn and research new topics in SWE and be capable of lifetime learning .

  8. Recognize professional responsibility and the application of ethical principles.

  9. Demonstrate an ability to learn new languages, environments, and paradigms for software systems.  

  10. Recognize the impact their discipline has on society.
